The George C. Marshall Papers

George C. Marshall to Major Henry W. Parker[1]

The hostile Cavalry has fallen back to SAN JOSE. Has an officers' patrol on SAN JOSE–IBAAN road. Your message to attack the BROWN Cavalry at the two bridges is therefore revoked. Instead you will select a concealed bivouac and bivouac (in advance) of our outpost line and strike the rear of any Cavalry. Rushing [sic] forward from SAN JOSE early tomorrow. Your orders for establishing the outposts of the Detachment tomorrow morning will be awaiting you at the two bridges.
