The George C. Marshall Papers

George C. Marshall First Division War Diary Entry

Weather fair. Health good. Supply good.
1. Three automobile trucks have been fitted with improvised bodies and were made available for use this date. The bodies of the trucks have only partially been located and many of these are broken. Division Headquarters automobiles and motor-cycles not yet located. Horses not yet available; undergoing mallein test.[1] Absolute lack of any transportation, except one small French automobile and a limited number of French trucks, makes the efficient organization and administration of the Division unsatisfactory and difficult.
