John Laurens (1764-1782)
The oldest son of Henry Laurens, John was educated in Charleston, Geneva, Switzerland, and eventually at the Middle Temple. He returned to America in 1777, and became an aide to George Washington. He was captured at the fall of Charleston in May 1780, exchanged, and sent to France to obtain supplies for the Army in 1781. After his return to America he again joined the Southern Army. He was killed in one a minor skirmish in August 1782.
