Haweis, Stephen (1878-1969)
British-born painter and photographer. Emigrated to the U.S. Married Mina Loy (1903-divorced 1917). Photographer of Rodin sculpture, and painter of church windows and murals. Emigrated to Dominica, British West Indies after stock market crash of 1929 sapped most of his finances. Met Margaret Sanger in 1914, most likely after reading the Woman Rebel, lost touch until the late 1930s when Haweis sought to translate Sanger's birth control material for use in the British West Indies.
