Martyn, Herbert George ( ? - ? )
British lecturer in science. Married Edith How (1899). Trained as physicist, Martyn was a researcher. During the war worked for the Aeronautical Inspection Department of the Ministry of Munitions. A social activist and member of the Independent Labour Party, Martyn was also an advocate of family limitation. He and his wife, suffragist Edith How-Martyn
, joined the Malthusian League
in 1910. The Martyns moved to Australia in 1939.
