The Papers of General Nathanael Greene

From Doctor Peter Fayssoux,

Informs NG that the British commandant at Charleston, contending that there is an inequality of rank, has "thought proper to refuse" Fayssoux's exchange, although "no distinction of rank" has previously been considered in the "medical line." Hopes NG will "consider" him in any future exchange.[1]
Autograph letter signed (MiU-C) 1 p.
[1.] NG played no role in securing Fayssoux's exchange in March. (See Olyphant to NG, 12 February/ 3 March, PGNG, 7: 384.)
