The Papers of General Nathanael Greene

To Peter Mallett

Sir

Your letter of the 15th of December has been receivd and would have had an earlier answer but for Mr Clays absense who I wanted to hear from and consult upon the subject of it; and for want of which I cannot give you a decisive answer at this time.
In your letter you offer to exchange Money and supply dry goods for bills on France; but propose no rate of exchange for one, & give no account of the prices or quallity of the other. These matters being more fully explained and I have had further information from Mr Clay I shall be prepard to give you an Answer. I am sir

Your humble Ser

N Greene
