The Papers of General Nathanael Greene

To Colonel Anthony W. White

Sir

You will please to proceed to the Moravian Towns immediately where you will collect all the invalids belonging to your Regiment; and select out such as will be fit for service in a short time and order them to join the Regt with Capt Fauntleroy. With the others you will go to Virga and make application to Govr Jefferson and the Baron de Steuben to have the Regiment compleated agreeable to the new establishment as soon as possible.
You will appoint a proper number of Officers to command the Troops in the field. All the other Officers belonging to your Regiment you will collect in Virga and suffer none to absent themselves without the particular orders of the Baron. All Officers on Command or on furlough, except those in Camp, are to join you.
You will be prepared to give Govr Jefferson and the Baron every necessary information to enable them to compleat the arrangement of your Regiment.

Given under my hand at Camp on Pedee River January 26th 1781.

Nath Greene
